The True Masculine!

Tuesday 25th Jan 2011:

Oxford United will be turning a negative into a positive by teaming up with Against Breast Cancer tonight to help raise funds for the charity following the painting of the club's statue in bright pink paint.

Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas said the club was urging supporters ahead of the club's Division 2 clash with Shrewsbury Town to come and see the Pink Bull and donate to the Abingdon-based charity.

A collection will also be held this Saturday ahead of the home meeting with Cheltenham Town.

Kelvin Thomas said: "We are delighted to be making a positive statement following the disappointment of someone painting of the bull pink. We had a few discussions over how to react and we decided the best way was to make it have a positive impact on the community.

"We are confident this was not an attack on the football club and we received a huge amount of exposure due to it. Against Breast Cancer was an obvious choice to link up with due to the colour, and we are very pleased to react quickly to the situation and help raise some money for the charity. Supporters are asked to come and have a look and help such a good cause before it is cleaned up hopefully next week."
